Mark Beachy (陈马克) has a B.A. in Asian Studies with a certificate in Chinese Language from the University of Maryland Baltimore County, 2021 where he graduated Cum Laude. He is the recipient of an Undergraduate Research Award for 2020-2021 at UMBC. His research is entitled “Performing Traditional Chinese Folk Songs.”
Mark’s earliest memory is when he was three years old when he started learning the violin. He played the violin for 10 years, and then became interested in acting. He has been performing for 30 years, appearing on television, stage, and film. His favorite job was getting to work with the famous Japanese actor Fujiwara Toya. Mark played the role of Alexander T. Crane in an Edgar Allan Poe documentary on NHK Japan TV in 2009.
Behind the scenes, he has been a producer, director, choreographer, and playwright and composer of seven musicals. This included a one-hour special "'Bout Baltimore" broadcast on ABC TV in 1997. Also, Mark was the founder of the Baltimore Children’s Theatre, where he was the producer for 10 years.
Mark is the publisher emeritus of the Maryland Theatre Guide, a popular online theatre magazine which he founded in June 2011.
Mark’s voice teacher for over 25 years is Mr. Daniel Comegys, who studied voice with Frank Whitmore, Igor Chichagov, and Roland Hayes. In Paris Comegys worked with Nadia Boulanger and Pierre Bernac. Mark also studied with Bette Hankin, whose teacher was Rosa Ponselle.
